HW from Thursday, 11/30/17

Due on AND BEFORE Tuesday, 12/5/17

1) I would suggest you print this page of assignments and check off each one as you do it so you can be sure you have completed everything.

2) Type up your completed thankfulness essay, using our guidelines for typed compositions. (See right sidebar. Call it “Thankfulness Essay, D1.”) Once you have proofread it carefully and are sure it is as perfect as you can make it, email it to me before the weekend. (I will print it and grade it before we return on Tuesday, and I need time to do that.)

3) Continue to memorize your Scripture memory verse, using the Guidelines for Memorization handout I gave you. Practice reciting it out loud, word for word. You must be ready to recite it for a grade at any time beginning next week.

4) Complete Copywork #8 to turn in on Tuesday.

Also, daily:

HW from Tuesday, 11/28/17

Due on Thursday, 11/30/17

1) Your signed Reading Log for November is due on Thursday. Have it ready to turn in, HDBS (hot-dog-bun style), when you arrive.

2) Complete all the blanks and numbered lists of items on the essay planning worksheet for the thankfulness essay. You do not need to write out the sentences unless you want to, but you must have settled on your three points, and have listed at least specifics for each of those three points.

3) Be sure you have made the scripture memory card for the verse you're memorizing first and bring it to show me in class on Thursday. Continue to memorize the verse for recitation beginning next week.

4) Be sure you have read pages 50-72 in the Mark Rodriguez book. As you read, notice how the tone of Mark’s journaling changes and matures as he gets older. Write down as many different ways of journaling (styles of writing, points of view, subjects, etc.) as you can think of that Mark demonstrates in his writing. Be sure to have this list and the book with you in class on Thursday.

HW from Thursday, 11/16/17

Due on Tuesday, 11/28/17

Happy Thanksgiving!

There is no homework this next week over Thanksgiving break! Enjoy your time off, play some games with your family, grab a chance for some extra reading, eat delicious food, give thought to things you are thankful for...

The following things are due the Tuesday we return from break:

1) Be sure you have read pages 50-72 in the Mark Rodriguez book. As you read, notice how the tone of Mark’s journaling changes and matures as he gets older. Write down as many different ways of journaling (styles of writing, points of view, subjects, etc.) as you can think of that Mark demonstrates in his writing. Be sure to have this list and the book with you in class after break.

2) Work on your Verse/Opening essay, using my sample as a guide. You will need to have your essay completed and ready to turn in the day we return from Thanksgiving break.

3)  Make the scripture memory card for the verse you're memorizing first and begin to memorize the verse for recitation beginning in December.

4) Make sure your notebook is fully organized. Have the dividers labeled the way I told you to, and make sure all papers are filed into the appropriate sections. Take out all unnecessary papers (stuff for other classes, scratch paper, doodling and drawing, etc.) and make sure you have some clean notebook paper in there ready for note-taking.

5) Pray for my wrists especially, but also my hands and knee, to heal quickly and completely. It still hurts a good bit to use my arms for writing or lifting, so grading and household tasks are proving quite difficult. I need to be able to use my arms freely! Thanks!

HW from Tuesday, 11/14/17

Due on Thursday, 11/16/17

1) Read pages 50-72 in the Mark Rodriguez book. As you read, notice how the tone of Mark’s journaling changes and matures as he gets older. Write down as many different ways of journaling (styles of writing, points of view, subjects, etc.) as you can think of that Mark demonstrates in his writing. Be sure to have the book with you in class on Thursday.

2) Work on your Verse/Opening essay, using my sample as a guide. You will need to have your essay completed and ready to turn in the day we return from Thanksgiving break. (Therefore, whether or not you have homework over break is dependent on you and whether you choose to complete this essay today or put if off.)

3) Make sure you have your completed “Put Me in the Zoo” handout from last week (if you didn't give it to the substitute, which some of you did), and also that you finished the Bible verse assignment we started in class yesterday. Have both ready at the start of class on Thursday.

You will receive a grade on your notebook organization on Thursday.

5) Pray for my wrists especially, but also my hands and knee, to heal quickly and completely. It still hurts a good bit to use my arms for writing or lifting, so grading and household tasks are proving quite difficult. I need to be able to use my arms freely! Thanks!
