Due on 10/28/10:
* Reading for Reading Log: 20 minutes daily. (I will give you a November Reading Log tomorrow, and you will turn in your signed October Reading Log next Tuesday, 11/2.)
* Please revise both your descriptive setting and your character sketch, according to the notes I made on your paper.  Once you have it fully typed and revised, email it to me.  If you receive an email back from me, saying I printed it, you needn't do so.  If you do not, please print and bring a copy of your revised copies to class tomorrow.

HW from 10/19/10

Due on 10/21/10:
* Continue reading for Reading Log: 20 minutes per day. (Log is due, signed by parent, at the end of the month.)

* CW #6

* I will email you a copy of your paragraph, correctly formatted for your paper.  (Standard 1-in. margins, double-spaced, 12-pt. font.)  Once you get it, write a complete (rough) draft of your character sketch.

[Remember to utilize all three ways we talked about for enhancing character: physical description, dialogue (either by or about the character), and action involving the character.  Again, do not write a story!  Just write a one page character sketch of the person you have chosen, using all three methods for enhancing character.]

* Email it to me once you're finished.

HW from 9/30/10

Due on 10/5/10:
* Continue reading for Reading Log: 20 minutes per day. (Log is due, signed by parent, at the end of the month.)
* Choose the place you'd like to write your descriptive paper about.  Make a chart again (like you did for Tuesday's homework) with your five senses across the top.  Put three descriptive phrases about the place under each heading, focusing on describing the place using that sense.
* After you've done this, write a good, descriptive introductory sentence for this setting.  Then write for fifteen minutes (use a timer), using the techniques we discussed for enhancing your descriptive writing.  DO NOT tell me a story!  You are just writing a description.  Look again at E. B. White's barn description for a model.
* Email it to me, as an attachment, when you're finished.
