* Reading for Reading Log: 30 minutes daily.

* Re-scan any of the poems that you scanned incorrectly in the poem packet I gave you.  Attempt to correctly identify the rhythmic foot for each of the poems listed below.

NOTE: There is only ONE poem in this list that is free verse.  All others are either primarily iambic, trochaic, anapestic, or dactylic.


* Memorize your poem(s) for recitation, if you have not already done so.

* Write in your journal at least once per day.  Use first person.  If you address an audience at all, it should be God.

* Finish your ballad.  Remember to incorporate the theme for your age group and to use the following (see handout for more explanation):

+ Ballads are narrative.  They tell a story.
+ Use either ABCB or ABAB rhyme scheme.
+ Use quatrain (four-line stanzas).
+ Lines 1 and 3 are  iambic tetrameter (four S-L rhythmic feet).
+ Lines 2 and 4 are iambic trimeter (three S-L rhythmic feet).
