HW from 10/2/12

Due on 10/4/12:

* Reading for Reading Log: 30 minutes daily. (Reading Log is due, signed by parent, at the end of the month.  This month it will be due on Tuesday, October 30.)

* Look for and find one of the following (in print--bring the print material with you):
+ a description you like of a place, OR
+ an example each of both a simile and a metaphor.
We did not use this on Tuesday.  Please bring to class again on Thursday.

* Think about the place you've decided you would like to write about for your paper.  Make a grid with your five senses listed across the top.  (You may want to consider turning your page to landscape orientation--i.e. longways parallel to the ground.)  Under each heading, brainstorm a list of at least five things about your place that could be true concerning that sense.  We did this yesterday with the place "school room."

* On a separate sheet of paper, choose one brainstormed idea from each column (one of the five senses).  Write one good (!), descriptive sentence for each of the five senses you brainstormed (for a total of five good, descriptive sentences).  Both the chart and the sentences are due tomorrow.
