Due on 10/30/12:
* Using the paper I wrote about my grandmother as a model, write your character description. Be sure your character sketch includes each of the 7 ways we've discussed to enhance description!
NOTE: The format for the paper is as follows:
- double-spaced word processing document
- standard 1-inch margins
- Arial or Times New Roman font
- standard 5-space indentations for paragraphs
- do not skip an extra line between paragraphs
- header with your name and the title "Character Sketch" in the right-hand corner
- footer with a page number in the middle of the bottom
- at least two full pages, typed according to the above parameters
* Be prepared at any time for a quiz.
This will include the things we have studied so far regarding the 7
ways to enhance description in your writing, the list of the 5 senses,
the 5 types of figurative language we have studied (three good to use
and two not good to use), and the 2 elements of narration we have
studied so far. See the class website (see sidebar at left for a link)
if you are not familiar with any of those things. Also be sure you are
prepared to properly apply the grammar lessons we have had so far,
particularly how to correct/avoid run-on sentences and sentence
fragments and how to correctly punctuate dialogue.
ALSO:
* Reading for Reading Log: 30 minutes daily. Your Reading Log is due, signed by your parent, on Tuesday!
