HW from 4/23/13

Due on 4/25/13

* Pray for Gloria and her family as they walk through the pain of Ian's death.

"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." - Deuteronomy 31:8

* Have your report card signed by a parent and return it to me.

* Write a good descriptive paragraph for your theme story as discussed in class.  If you began your story with character, this paragraph will be a well-constructed description of a setting.  If you began your story with setting, this paragraph will be a well-constructed description of a character.  You will write the paragraph and print a copy to turn in on Thursday.  Also please insert the paragraph at a good place within the first six pages that you have written so far in your theme story.

* You do not need to write anything else new (after the above-mentioned paragraph) for the D1 of your theme story unless it is not yet 6 full pages long.  On Thursday, you should have at least 6 full typewritten pages and your added descriptive paragraph should be part of your story.  Of course, you may continue working on your story if you would like to!

* Between Thursday (4/25) and Tuesday (4/30), you will add at least 4 typewritten pages (2 per school day) using our usual paper parameters.  Do not print them or email them.  (This puts you at needing to have at least 10 full pages by Tuesday, 4/30.)  A full draft of your D1 will need to be completed--and proofread by three people--by Tuesday, 5/7.  Your final draft needs to be between 5 and 15 full pages in length.  (Note this length change!)

NOTE: Our standard paper parameters are as follows: 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced, with 5-space paragraph indentation and no extra lines between paragraphs.  Your final paper must be at least five full typewritten pages, but no more than 15 typewritten pages, when you turn it in.  You will add pages at a rate of two pages per homework day until your paper is finished.  Please turn in your D1 as soon as it is complete.

* If you have not done so, email me a copy of your final D2 of the mystery story to post on the website.

* Be prepared for a poetry quiz any time.

* Be prepared to recite any of your three memory verses at any time (Psalm 141:3, Titus 2:11-14, and Ephesians 4:29-32).  You might choose to review one verse each day so that they stay fresh in your mind.

ALSO:
* Send me an email indicating that you have carefully read the homework blog and that you understand everything that is to be completed for the next class period.  In this email, please indicate that you understand that the new "length limit" for your theme story is only 15 pages (not 25) and that your completed D1 will be due on Tuesday, 5/7.

* Reading for Reading Log: 30 minutes daily. (Reading Log is usually due, signed by parent, at the end of the month.  This month it will be due on Tuesday, April 30.)
