1) Your March Reading Log is due, signed by a parent, on Thursday.

2) Be prepared to recite your selected poem for the class from memory on Thursday. 

NOTE: Practice reciting your memorized poem in front of the mirror and in front of other people. You need to be comfortable and interesting in your delivery, and be sure you’re speaking confidently and slowly as you recite. Practice, practice, practice!

3) Be prepared to take your next Scripture memory quiz (on Philippians 4:4-8 and 1 Chronicles 29:11-13) on Thursday. This will be the same format as the one you already took.

4) Continue writing in your journal each day (upside-down writer’s notebook entries), setting a timer for five minutes and writing in first/second person as we’ve practiced in class. Don’t forget to bring your writer’s notebook back to class each Tuesday/Thursday!

5) IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY: return your signed report card, turn in your single-spaced copy of your springboard (“I Am”) poem, and turn in your next meaningful verse essay on Thursday.

1) Get your report card signed and return it on Tuesday.

2) Print a single-spaced copy of copy of your springboard (“I Am”) poem and turn it in on Tuesday if you haven’t already.

3) Practice reciting your memorized poem in front of the mirror and in front of other people. You don’t have to be quite as demonstrative in your recitation as my son Philip was in the video, but you do need to be comfortable and interesting in your delivery, and be sure you’re speaking confidently and slowly as you recite. Practice, practice, practice!

4) Complete your Theme Story Planning Worksheet thoroughly and well, including details about your setting, characters, and plot ideas. Be sure you have a completed plot line diagram as well. Feel free to add extra pages as needed. It should be ready to turn in on Tuesday, along with the start of your theme story.

5) Get started with your theme story, focusing on either setting or character (or a combination, as we studied in class), formatting it correctly and writing at least the first full page. (Do not write more than two pages unless you email them to me and get permission to continue.) You will turn in your Theme Planning Worksheet and these first two pages on Tuesday, in your new theme story envelope I’ll give you on Tuesday.

1) Complete the memorization of your selected poem. Use the tips for memorization handout, which I gave you back when we started our Scripture memory. You will need to have your poem committed to memory by Thursday. You will not recite the poem from memory for the class on Thursday, but you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have learned the poem in its entirety.

2) Continue to flesh out your Theme Story Planning Worksheet, adding details about your setting, characters, and plot ideas as you develop them. Do not answer question #1 yet.

3) Print another clean copy of your springboard poem (“I Am”) and bring it to class on Thursday.

4) Plan for your next meaningful verse essay. You will need to write the essay and turn it in before Spring Break (by next Thursday, 3/29).

5) Work on your final revision of your mystery story (D5) if you haven’t already turned it in. It is now due. This will be the final draft of your mystery story, and this grade will count as a test grade (double).

6) Be prepared for your Scripture memory quiz on the other two verses. It will be the same format as the one you already took.
