HW from Tuesday, 5/9/17

Due on Thursday, 5/11/17

1) Your well-proofed, corrected, complete draft (D3) of your theme story is due on Thursday. Please have it ready to turn in when you come into the classroom, with all previous drafts of the paper clipped beneath the beautiful printed D3.

2) For your final memorization project, you have a choice. If you chose to memorize another verse, begin committing the verse to memory. If you chose to memorize another poem (at least four stanzas) to memorize, email your poem selection to me for approval and print a copy to bring to class as well.

3) Scan the three remaining poems on the first sheet of your poetry packet. Mark the syllables in the first four lines of each poem as stressed and unstressed, then decide which meter you think the poem is written in. (Just figure out the rhythmic pattern and give that name. You don't have to figure out the number of feet in the line.) Also figure out the rhyme scheme, if there is one. Mark this information directly on your poetry packet and bring it with you to class tomorrow.

OPENING (Bible verse essay and oral presentation)
For Th, 5/9: Victoria (CWA); Luke (CWB)

-----
Also, daily:

Read your (approved) reading log book for pleasure, aiming for at least 30 minutes daily. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log calendar (in multiples of five, rounded down) as you go along.

Write in your gratitude journal daily, listing at least three things you are thankful for each day. When you have done so, place a small check mark in the top corner of your Reading Log calendar for that day.

Review one of your Scripture memory verses each day, such that you keep all of them fresh in your memory at all times and each verse gets reviewed at least once per week. You should be ready to recite any of the three verses you've memorized at any time.

NOTE: The May Reading Log will be due, signed by a parent, on Tuesday, 5/23/17.
