HW from Thursday, 3/29/18

ENJOY YOUR SPRING BREAK!

Relax, refresh, rejuvenate… do all kinds of things that you find refreshing and enjoyable so you will come back energized and ready to work hard to the end of the year!

Below you find several opportunities to work ahead and/or earn extra credit. If you find these things appealing, feel free to do them over the break. If not, you may wait until we return to complete them.

1) Any reading that you do in your Reading Log book or the Mark Rodriguez book—and/or journal writing that you do over break—may be recorded and will count in the totals for your April Reading Log.

2) On Thursday, 4/12—two days after we return from spring break on Tuesday—you will need to have corrected your returned “first page” of your theme story and to have completed five full pages.

If you wish to wait and do all of that correcting and writing after Spring Break, that is perfectly fine. However, if you wish to continue this week while you have a break from other schoolwork, you are free to do so. If you complete five pages, please email them to my Markup address and send me a text to let me know that you did so.

3) The following poem is a lovely one to contemplate at Easter. It is also relatively easy to memorize. If you memorize it over break and are able to recite it upon our return, I will give you an extra quiz grade in your average for Quarter 4.

The Lamb, by William Blake

Little lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life and bid thee feed
By the stream and o'er the mead
Gave thee clothing of delight
Softest clothing wooly bright
Gave thee such a tender voice
Making all the vales rejoice!
         Little Lamb who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?

         Little lamb, I'll tell thee!
         Little lamb, I'll tell thee!
He is called by thy name
For he calls himself a Lamb
He is meek and he is mild
He became a little child
I a child, and thou a lamb
We are called by his name
         Little lamb, God bless thee!
         Little lamb, God bless thee!

ALSO, DAILY:

+ Read your (approved) book for pleasure, aiming for 30 minutes each day. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log as you go along—in multiples of five, rounded down—and have a parent initial it in the box each day. The March Reading Log will be due on Thursday, 3/29/18.

+ Write in your journal each day (upside-down writer’s notebook entries), setting a timer for five minutes and writing in first/second person as we’ve practiced in class. Don’t forget to bring it back to class each Tuesday/Thursday!

+ Review your four memorized Scripture memory verses (Titus 2:11-14, Ephesians 4:29-32, Philippians 4:4-8, 1 Chronicles 29:11-13).

+ Review your memorized poem occasionally to be sure you are keeping it in your memory.

+ Make your bed!
