Due on AND BEFORE Tuesday, 4/17/18
1) Be sure you have emailed me the first five (proofread!) pages of your theme story—as a Word or pdf attachment to my Markup email address—if you haven't already. They are due before 8:00 p.m. tonight (Thursday, 4/12).
2) Finish the sestina poem you started today in your writer's notebook. (Be sure to follow the pattern, which we discussed in class on Tuesday and reviewed today with the two new poems we studied.) Once complete, type it up in proper form and email it to my regular email address. Also print a copy to bring to class on Tuesday.
3) As soon as you receive your corrected Markup copy of your theme story, which will be graded and returned in the order I received them, make all corrections and continue writing your theme story. You must have at least ten pages of the story written (unless it is finished in fewer) by the time you return to class next Tuesday. Please proofread as you go along, and have your parents proofread it frequently as you go along, too, so you can have their feedback if your story needs help to have it make sense or be clear.
NOTE: Over the next three weeks, you will complete your story. Once you have completed your story, send me a text or an email letting me know that is is complete and how many pages it is. The next step after that will be to proofread it well—then print it and have a parent or other adult proofread it well, too—before it comes to me as your complete D1.
Since you will all finish your stories at different times, each of you will complete and turn in your D1 at a different time. (You will not turn in another copy of your paper to me until you turn in the completed, proofread D1.)
The first full draft of your story will need to be completed in April (before class on Tuesday, May 1), if not before. You will then do a final proofread—and have your parent do one, too—before turning in your entire story packet with your D1 on May 3. The completed, proofread D1 of your theme story is due on Thursday, May 3, if you haven't completed it and turned it in before that.

ALSO, DAILY:
+ Read your (approved) book for pleasure, aiming for 30 minutes each day. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log as you go along—in multiples of five, rounded down—and have a parent initial it in the box each day. The April Reading Log will be due on Tuesday, 5/1/18.
+ Write in your journal each day (upside-down writer’s notebook entries), setting a timer for five minutes and writing in first/second person as we’ve practiced in class. Don’t forget to bring it back to class each Tuesday/Thursday!
+ Keep reviewing your four memorized Scripture memory verses (Titus 2:11-14, Ephesians 4:29-32, Philippians 4:4-8, 1 Chronicles 29:11-13).
+ Keep reviewing your memorized poem to be sure you are keeping it in your memory.
+ Make your bed!
NOTE: At any point during Quarter 4, if you choose to memorize and recite the poem "The Lamb" (by William Blake) perfectly from memory, I will give you an extra quiz grade in your average for the quarter. Let me know at the beginning of class once you have accomplished this, should you choose to do so.
