1) Begin to "dream and scheme" and brainstorm about your David story. Brainstorm ideas about what you think is going on and how you want to continue the mystery story.

2) Make a list of at least five possibilities for each of the following categories:

* What is the thing in David's pocket?

* Who or what are the "creatures"?

* What are they up to? 

* What was David's "discovery"?

* What does the letter to Cathy say?

* What will Richard do when he gets to Room 228 and David isn't there?

3) In your Writer’s Inc. book, read pages 85-98. Take notes about what you think is important.

4) Your December Reading Log is due on Thursday.

5) If you haven’t already, be prepared to turn in your first meaningful verse essay on Thursday.

+ Read your (approved) book for pleasure, aiming for 30 minutes daily. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log as you go along—in multiples of five, rounded down—and have a parent initial it in the box each day. The December Reading log is due on Thursday, January 10 (after Christmas break).

+ Continue to print out each homework blog entry, check off each assignment as you complete it, and have your parent sign the completed, printed sheet. Bring it to class each day.
