HW from 2/25/14

Due on Thursday, 2/27/14

1.  Make any needed corrections as indicated on the graded copy of your springboard poem I gave you back in class yesterday. Print a corrected copy (if yours wasn't perfect) and attach it to your graded copy.  Everyone will return it tomorrow, for me to file it in your writing folder.

2.  Write a third stanza to the "Good Lord, forgive" poem I gave you yesterday in class.  Follow the form of the original poem; use the same rhyme scheme and line repetitions; and utilize the same theme idea (asking forgiveness for specific, possible wrongs done), language style, line length, etc.  You will turn it in in class tomorrow.  Please have it hot-dog-bun style, labeled, and ready to turn in as you walk in to class tomorrow.

3.  Get your notebook organized and in good order.  I will be giving you an open-notebook quiz, and you want to be sure you will be able to find what you need quickly and easily (because your notebook is so well-organized and familiar to you!).  The quiz will focus mainly on plot and poetry, but anything we've studied so far is fair game.  You will not be permitted to use your a Writers Inc book or your classmates during the open-notebook quiz, just your notebook.

4.  Write your monthly blog post entry, which is due anytime during the month.  Please type it up, email it to me, and turn in a hard copy to me in class before the last day of the month (which is tomorrow).  You may write about anything you would like to.  Follow the directions on the sheet I gave you for the 12-Months-of-2014 Blog Challenge.  (See handout.)

5.  Work on your Scripture memory and Scripture memory review.  You need to be ready to recite your first (completed) memory verse perfectly from memory any time I call on you in class, and you need to be ready with your second memory verse by March 1.

6.  Continue to work on your mystery story as indicated:  Once your D1 is graded and you have your red copy back, revise your D1 as indicated on your red copy into a perfect final draft (your D2).  You will turn the D2 in as soon as it is ready.

Also (daily):

Read your (approved) book for pleasure 30 minutes daily.  Mark it on your reading log as you go along. The February reading log is due, signed by a parent, on  Tuesday, March 4.

+ Review daily the material from our writing and grammar lessons in class so that you can more easily learn and memorize (as we go along) the different things we are studying.  Be ready for a quiz anytime on all that we've learned so far.
