Due on AND BEFORE Tuesday,
2/13/18
1) If you had significant revisions to do on you
mystery story—and/or you earned a number less than 80 on the grading rubric for
your D3—make sure I have your copy of the “revised-D3-plus-one-page” that you were supposed to complete before today’s class. Send that to me ASAP if you
haven’t already. (Take your time and be careful, but hurry up!😊 ) The rest of you are free to continue with your story without
checking in with me.
2) Type up the springboard poem you wrote in your
writer’s notebook during class today. Revise it until you love it, have a
parent proofread it, then email the perfect copy to both my regular email and
my MarkUp email before the weekend.
Please remember to give it a proper header, call it “Springboard Poem,” and put
your name and the assignment in the title of the document and the email.
3) Have a parent proctor the "Semester 1 Test" at
a time when both of you have an uninterrupted hour that you are free. You
should be prepared with 2-3 sheets of loose-leaf paper and a pen when you begin
the test. Have your parent open the envelope. Complete the test in one sitting—in
the presence of your parent—then have your parent sign the test to say you took
it according to these directions. Have your parent seal all pages in a new
envelope and sign across the seal, for you to return to me on Tuesday. Do not
use any of your notes or materials to help you on the test.
4) Continue memorizing your new Scripture memory
verse (Philippians 4:4-8 OR 1 Chronicles 29:11-14). Be ready to recite your
verse in class next Tuesday.
5) Continue writing your mystery story. You
should ideally write every day, at least a page or two, so that you will have
added five pages or more before you return on Tuesday. However, the goal at
this point is to write well—we want a good story, after all, and that takes
time!—but also to work toward finishing your story as soon as you can. (You
will send me a text whenever you do finish your story and I will give you further
instructions, but that won’t likely be for a little while.) For now, though,
just keep writing at least a page or two per day. Have fun! Your stories are
great!
Caitlin, please return your signed report card
on Tuesday and be prepared to turn in or show any work that you missed during
your absence. Also complete the above items ASAP so you don’t get too far
behind! I hope you feel better soon!
-----
Also, daily:
+ Read your (approved) book for pleasure, aiming
for 30 minutes daily. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log as you go
along—in multiples of five, rounded down—and have a parent initial it in the
box each day. The February Reading Log will be due on Thursday, 3/1/18.
+ Review your two memorized Scripture memory
verses (Titus 2:11-14 and Ephesians 4:29-32) daily.
+ Practice and work on memorizing your new
Scripture memory verse (Philippians 4:4-8 OR 1 Chronicles 29:11-14) daily.
