HW from Thursday, 1/17/19

UPDATE, Monday, 9 a.m.
I have not heard back from the parent I was hoping could help me get set up with an alternate pdf-marking program on my iPad, and I can’t make sense enough of Google docs to keep track of everything well, so here’s my current plan: If you email me the pages you have completed at this point—by which I mean they’ve been written, proofread by a parent, and corrected by you before you send them to me ASAP (but no later than 3 p.m. today, Monday) I will proofread and mark them to return to you tomorrow. Whether you get that done in time for a “freebie” proofread or not, your official D1 (at least 5 full pages of the story) will be due on Thursday. This will be the first graded draft of your story.

NOTE: Your story does not need to be finished in those five pages. You will just need to have written five full pages, had them proofread and signed by a parent, and corrected them in time to turn them in on Thursday. Your story will be unfinished at the time of this first graded draft.

Feel free to call or text with any questions or concerns.

Happy writing!

From Thursday:
I am still wrestling and wrangling a bit with Google docs. I am also hopeful that we may have an option more similar to Markup, using a PDF-marking program on the iPad. I'm talking to someone about this now, and I will try to finalize exactly how we're going to handle continuing with the story as soon as I can.

In the meantime:

1) Continue in your story—alternating scenarios whenever you feel is appropriate—until you have written two full pages. Proofread it well, then have a parent proofread it and sign it. Make all of their suggested corrections, then await further instruction from me about where to send it and in what format.

2) Make a memory card for your chosen Scripture memory verse (Titus 2:11-14 or Ephesians 4:29-32). Once you have copied the verse, immediately have a parent double check it with you by having them check it as you read over the verse from the Bible and they cross check it with your card. Then switch. Then begin to memorize your verse using some of the techniques we discussed in class today.

-------

Also, daily:

+ Read your (approved) book for pleasure, aiming for 30 minutes daily. Mark the number of minutes on your Reading Log as you go along—in multiples of five, rounded down—and have a parent initial it in the box each day. The January Reading Log is due on Thursday, January 31.

+ Continue to print out each homework blog entry, check off each assignment as you complete it, and have your parent sign the completed, printed sheet. Bring it to class each day.
