HW from 1/31/12

Due on 2/2/12:

* Read your (approved) book for pleasure 30 minutes daily. Mark it on your Reading Log!

* Be prepared to recite your third Scripture memory verse (either Titus 2:11-14 or Ephesians 4:29-32) at any time! Keep reviewing your first two verses (I Chronicles 29:11-14 and Philippians 4:4-8) as well. You will be expected to keep all memorized verses in your mind all year! Review one verse each day to keep them fresh!

* Complete your name poem, using the following criteria:
+ Write it in your writer's notebook. (If you were absent, use a sheet of loose-leaf paper.)
+ Write the letters of your first name vertically along the left edge, using capital letters.
+ First letter begins one word to describe you. (All words must be true and positive.)
+ Second letter begins a two-word phrase.
+ Third letter begins a three-word phrase.
+ Fourth letter begins a four-word phrase.
+ If your name is longer than this, continue with 2-, 3- or 4-word phrases until the last letter.
+ Last letter of your name begins one word.
+ If your name is only three or four letters, start and end with one word and have phrases for each letter in the middle.

* Try to finish your mystery story, if you haven't. Continue by adding two more full typed pages per homework day until your story is completed satisfactorily. Your final story may end up being five pages long, or it may be fifteen or more. There is no specific length requirement, as long as it is correctly formatted, according to the criteria listed below, and the plot line is satisfying to the reader.

* Proofread your paper! Give it to others to proofread. Make it as perfect as you know how before you turn it in.

* When your story is complete (proofread carefully!) email it to me as an attachment entitled "Your name's mystery story D2" (ex. Laurie's mystery story D2).

CORRECT FORMAT FOR MYSTERY STORY:
+ Create a header that will put your name and the title of your story on the right top corner of each page. Do not skip any lines in this header.

+ Create a footer that will automatically number your pages in the center of the bottom of each page. Do not skip any lines in the footer.

+ Be sure your paper is in a word processing program and that it is double-spaced, with one-inch margins, using 12-point Times New Roman font. Do not have any sections of your paper written any larger or smaller than 12-point font.

+ On the blank line between scenarios, put three dashes, like this: ---
