* Happy "freedom in Christ day"! This is my term for celebrating the fact that we do not have to worry about baseless, superstitious fears on days like Friday, the 13th!
* Read your (approved) book for pleasure 30 minutes daily. Mark it on your Reading Log.
* Make corrections on the paper I returned to you.
* Continue your story according to the notes I made for you at the end of your paper. As you write, be keeping the theme ever in the forefront of your mind. Successfully depicting this theme is the main objective of this assignment. In other words, craft your plot to support this theme, rather than focusing on the story (plot line) you want to tell.
* After you have added your new pages, email it to me. It should be at least five full typed pages (correctly formatted) at this stage. Yes, I said FIVE. Write two pages on Friday or Saturday and two pages on Monday and you'll be good to go. You may write as much as you like, but your final paper may not be longer than 15 pages. (Your paper must be between 10-15 double-spaced pages in length upon completion.)
* We will finish up class recitation of your selected memorized poems on Tuesday. Caitlyn should be prepared to recite on that day.
* Be prepared at any time with all your memory work, which consists of:
+ four Bible verses (I Chronicles 29:11-13, Philippians 4:4-8, Titus 2:11-14, Ephesians 4:29-32)
+ the poem you selected to memorize and recite to the class
+ the William Blake poem "The Lamb"
+ the first stanza of the Barry Cornwall poem "The Sea"
* You should already have analyzed all of the poems in the poetry packet for the rhyme scheme. Be sure you have written out the letter pattern next to the title of each poem.
* You also should have already scanned the poems on the first, second, and third sheets of the poetry packet for the meter. Be sure you have given the rhythmic foot/feet for each poem on those three pages. We will continue this together next week.
