HW from 4/19/12

Due on 4/24/12:

* You are NOT required to read your (approved) book for pleasure this weekend, since many KEYS students will be on the MOST (Ministry Outreach Spring Trip) in Williamsburg from Friday morning through Sunday evening. Of course, if you stay home and are able to read, mark it on your Reading Log. It will still count toward your total log at the end of the month.

* Remember to add at least five things to your "thankfulness list" before Tuesday.

* Visit the link and read all of the information about the 2012 HSLDA poetry contest. (http://www.hslda.org/Contests/Poetry/2012/2012rules.asp)

* Scan the sample poems given for the poetry contest. There are six total--two for each age group. Please scan all of the poems, not just the ones for your age group. Write the title of the poem and give the rhythmic foot and rhyme scheme for each of the sample poems.

* If you did NOT turn in a printed copy of your proofread story (the D1), email it to me as soon as possible. Indicate clearly to me that this is your D1 and that you would like for me to print it and grade it.
* You do NOT need to continue your story this weekend. No more of your story is due next Tuesday. Of course, if you want to continue, you may write as much as you like. (Your final paper may not be longer than 15 pages.)

* Be sure you have scanned all the poems in the poetry pack for both rhyme scheme and meter (rhythmic foot). This information should be written next to the poems, on the poetry pack pages themselves.

* Keep reviewing all your memory work. You must remain prepared at any time to recite your memory work, which consists of:
+ four Bible verses (I Chronicles 29:11-13, Philippians 4:4-8, Titus 2:11-14, Ephesians 4:29-32)

+ the poem you selected to memorize and recite to the class
+ the William Blake poem "The Lamb"
+ the first stanza of the Barry Cornwall poem "The Sea"
