For Thursday, 4/24/14
1. Poetry Recitation Party tomorrow during class. Be ready to recite your poem, expressively, from memory. Be good at it! (Students who signed up to bring finger-food-only snacks--and the one who agreed to bring water bottles)--please remember to bring your snack and set it up as soon as possible before class starts!)

NOTE: Practice, practice practice reciting your memorized poem!! You will not simply be evaluated on how solid your memorization is
(as you were for your verses), but you will also be evaluated on your
delivery of it. How expressive were you? Dynamic? Interesting?
Practice reciting it slowly, with expression, for your
parents, your siblings, your friends, in front of the mirror, filming
yourself and watching it, etc. Don't let yourself feel goofy or silly
or shy or embarrassed. You can do this well!
2. Finish your theme story (writing it, not editing or proofreading it) before class on Thursday. Please send me an email at my regular email address to let me know when you have finished your story (D1) and are in the proofreading stage. Do not send your D1 to me--not at Markup and not to my regular email!
UPDATE on your THEME STORIES:
Your completed, corrected, and proofread (again--by someone different) draft of your finished story will be printed and turned in sometime before Thursday, 5/1. This will be your D1. Please do not send your D1 to Markup or to my regular email!

The following items will need to be in your envelope with your perfect-as-you-can-make-it D1:
1) Preliminary planning worksheet for your theme story.
2) Plot line chart for your theme story.
3) Printed Markup of the initial homework assignment you turned in (first 3 paragraphs of your story).
4) Printed Markup of your graded G1 (first 4 pages of your story).
5) Printed Markup of your graded G2 (first 10 pages of your story).
6) Beautiful, printed copy of your corrected, proofread, edited, corrected, perfected D1 (entire story).
Please place the items in your envelope in that order (from bottom to top) so that the first thing I see when I pull out the whole pile is your D1 on top, and your preliminary planning worksheet on the bottom.
EXTRA CREDIT for EARLY COMPLETION
In order to reward your diligence and good time management, I will offer the following:
* Turn in your well-proofed, corrected D1 tomorrow (Thursday): +5 points to your D1 grade
* Turn in your well-proofed, corrected D1 between Thursday and Tuesday: +4 points to your D1 grade
* Turn in your well-proofed, corrected D1 on next Tuesday: +2 points to your D1 grade
* Turn in your well-proofed, corrected D1 on next Thursday: no extra credit; that's when it's due!
